It is our responsibility as believers to understand and recognize the authentic move of the Holy Spirit. Anything that attempts to discredit, exaggerate, or control the movement of the Spirit must be rejected. Any move of the Spirit must be in line with the teaching of Scripture. That does not mean that the Spirit is unable to move in a new way that was not revealed in the Bible, but it does mean that the authentic move of the Spirit will never contradict God’s Word. Because God is love, the Spirit of God will always move in love. It is impossible for God to move in any other way, for love is his very nature and identity. The important thing to remember here is that we are defining love on God’s terms and not on man’s idea of what love should be.
