Setting Captives Free
A Verse-by-Verse Journey through the Book of Galatians
Tyler Cook
Our God is a God of freedom! From the days of Israel’s enslavement in Egypt until now, God remains passionate about setting His people free. Wherever God is at work, freedom must follow, for “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
Our Father sent Christ into this fallen world in order “to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18). As you can see, releasing His children from bondage is a matter of utmost importance to the Lord.
The book of Galatians is a resounding cry encouraging God’s children to stand in the freedom that was purchased for them through Christ’s blood. Attacking legalism and sin, the apostle Paul systematically unravels the false teaching that threatened the life of the church in Galatia.
Though written close to 2,000 years ago, his revelation on Christian freedom remains relevant to believers today. May you be transformed on your verse-by-verse journey through the book that helped spark the protestant reformation and continues to hearken the call to experience our perfect freedom in Christ.
